Under the radar

Tomasz has been doing the overnight shift for the past couple of days-- but I regret to say I don't have much to show for it!

PS: He was on BBC Radio Jersey, 1:47:29 with nippy trossachs. Don't moan about it being chilly! Pants-- nothing dreary about Tomasz though.

He wasn't on Janice Long's show, nor the Shipping Forecast and he didn't do the News Channel-- so no footage or i-player links for those. However I'm grateful to my wonderful Canadian readers, for pointing out he was on BBC World instead. He was lumbered with the unfortunate task of talking about Hurricane Tomas! He did manage a cute smile about the name; although not much levity beyond that, considering damage it has caused in Haiti and environs.

It's nice to see The Schaf has such a following in Canada. I get a percentage breakdown of visitors through Statcounter, in terms of countries. The UK gets ~85%, but Canada is always in second place. Canadians clearly have good taste-- perhaps Tomasz should do a special tour of honour there!

The USA is in third place. I know that's one of his favourite resorts (especially Florida), he has a following in that state for sure! Unsurprisingly Poland is fourth, a strong cluster of fans in a little fishing village called Gdansk (you may have heard of it). Poles I know here in the UK adore Tomasz too-- darn right as well.

Despite the Daily Mould and its sister rag the Metcole, this blog gets ~100 visitors a day. I doubt that's owing to my spellbinding writing {i}, but more to with the popularity of His Loveliness. A special mention must go to this letter in the Metro today

I don't know if you'll read this Scott, but a huge thanks for that text, you're a star-- hit the nail on the head.

He does indeed always look awesome. Putting Tomasz's excellent forecasting/presenting aside, Tomasz reminds me of a John Andresen model{ii}. Perhaps why Tomasz likes Norway so much, he fits in so well! Shame I don't get more Norsk readers though...

Anyway I have sources at the BBC, and I know Tomasz is well-liked there-- so I hope the BBC keeps him onscreen in some capacity. Maybe Strictly for Tomasz next year? Instead we got Victoria Wood and the Robbins clan's friend instead...

Mixed salad

I'm worried for Tomasz, he may get Janet Street-Porter on his tail now! The Schaf used the term "spits and spots" today; the usage of which by Dan Corbett, gets JPS all excited. Sadly Craig Charles doesn't share the admiration of the Dan C, given the fomer's unwarranted needling of the latter on Radio 2 this week. I hope Janice Long returns before long (pardon pun).

Anyway, back to His Loveliness with his mixed weather and groping hand motions. But what's this... he mistakenly called Scotland "Wales". Yeah he corrected himself immediately, but he should sacked immediately for his outrageous racism and burnt as a wicker man on the Outer Hebridies. Yes.

Even if our szkcoki friends aren't so keen, I'm pleased to tell Tomasz he doesn't just have admirers from Scotland, Ireland, England, Poland, Ilse of Man and the Channel Islands... visitors come to this blog far and wide. You're well loved in Canada it would seem.



I hear that John Barrowman has mention The Divine One is the Radio Times this week, regarding JB's Saturday show. I get the impression he has made arch comments about our hero, I shall investigate! Nobody denigrates The Schaf on my watch, you don't want to make him angry....

He's itching to tell you the forecast

Simone was in matron mode today, chastising The Schaf for folding his arms on ceremony, like a disaffected youth. He then cued Tomasz to start his broadcast! No way to speak to the Weather God.

His forecast was further sabotaged by the erroneous caption of Hull as "Cardiff". Tomasz was quite right in pointing out The Deep-- a very fine and large aquarium-- I'd recommend the transparent lift through the shark pool! An amazing smattering of small fish and an array of rays.

Tomasz was then hampered by a bad itch, and he was commendably candid enough to tell us about it. I reckon he had a 'bat in the cave' really {i}



I'm sorry to hear that His Loveliness's home country has been plagued by foul weather, hope none of my blog's followers have been affected by that.

After Jon Soppell's show had finished discussing the House of Commons being "hung", it's only fitting that Tomasz followed with his five-day forecast.

He was looking very dapper, with his Gene Hunt-style striped tie. Undoubtedly the highlight for me, was when he was describing a weather front as a "sausage of rain". I must admit I was excited at the thought of Tomasz's moist and large sausage... I'm not wired up right, am I? {i}



On a more serious note, once again Tomasz went the extra mile to explain things in more detail about our weather; telling us about upper-level winds, and how they are effecting our weather (and our aviation industry as well!). Such extra work is why Tomasz richly deserved that TRIC award.

He even managed to get in a mention of Poland, which has been getting temperatures of 20C. I'm glad they've been getting it... once the temperatures get above high teens Celsius, it depresses me. Thankfully His Loveliness always cheers me up.

Long shot

One of the delights of Radio 2, is listening to Janice Long in the wee hours with her droll banter.

Tomasz was on last night, talking about his garden and getting poetic about his fronds. He was also recalling his days as a teenager in Poland, when it used to be -15C by day in winter {i}, and comparing it with our troubles with hibernal weather. However Tomasz was very fair, and used one of my favourite phrases: "It's all relative"! He talked of Dubai, where rain causes disruption.

Mostly it was talk about his 'tropical' garden, Tomasz is a talented gardener as well-- is there nothing he can't do? I reckon he has many hidden talents: Perhaps he's a juggler on the quiet, I can imagine him deftly handling a pair of balls. Maybe he likes going shooting, I can see him firing his weapon into a butt. Or perhaps he likes being a bell-ringer? He'd make a good campanologist.

Most intriguingly, Tomasz revealed he will be back for three more nightlies with Janice this week-- The Schaf hinted he has some interesting things to chat about over the week! Can't wait... he is a "tease" as Janice rightly suggests. Tomasz misbehaving indeed!

Craven Haven

Firstly "cześć" to my Polish visitors-- I see that Tomasz's appearance in Attitude has featured in the Polish media too! Please forgive my poor Polish, I'm trying to learn the basics (and perhaps more). So: Jak się masz?

In the next few weeks, the legendary John Craven will have been at the helm of Countryfile for an impressive 21 years! Countryfile started in August 1988: A few months into the programme, John Craven decided to finish his long run at Newsround {i}, so that he could front Countryfile-- and there he has remained!

A revamp of the show in 2009 saw Matt Baker and Julia Bradbury become the main presenters, with JC re-assigned to investigative features on the more serious issues facing rural areas.

What has this all got to do with The Schaf, I hear you cry: Well In August 2008, there was a special show to celebrate 20 years of Countryfile. Who better to do the weather forecast for it, than our very own Tomasz!

One of the biggest surprises for me this week, has been how many people didn't realise how buff Tomasz is. If you look beneath and between the oh-so-neatly folded sleeves, there were pretty strong hints even two years ago [haha]! It's definitely better that he wears jeans now though, to show off other parts too!
