A nice Christmas present for us Schaffans today, with Tomasz appearing on the News Channel, "dedicating himself" to bringing the weather.
I hope all those affected by the inclement weather in southern England have managed to stay dry and have had their power restored.
Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2014

Changing everyday
A slightly distrubing moment on Radio 2 in the wee hours of this morning, with Janice Long talking about sperm, just before the weather slot. I feared that Janice would ask Tomasz to give a mouthful on that bad taste topic.
1:12:43
However it was Laura Tobin chatting with Janice, and the topic changed to Jon Bon Jovi. Laura is a huge fan (even more so after meeting him), and she was worried about fainting when she interviewed him. I think if I were to meet or interview Tomasz, I'd suffer the same apprehension!
Clearly Alex Deakin appearing on Mastermind has sparked a trend, Laura had also been asked to do Strictly (she had twisted her ankle though), as was Tomasz. For many men, Laura is female equivalent of Tomasz... I would've loved to have seen Tomasz gyrating like a dervish in some those costumes they use on Strictly. Tomasz reports on Twitter that he and Laura Tobin were jiving to theme tunes from children's programmes-- Denver The Last Dinosaur (he's gone quiet)
Laura did the Shipping Forecast this morning-- so I take it Tomasz was on BBC World duties? Hope so. He found time to chat with Liam Dutton on Twitter: Apparently Boy George is following Liam... in a Twitter sense, rather than literally I'd hope-- he could end up being chained to a radiator.
Stranger things have happened to telly personalities, as the QI quizmaster and Dr House once found out...
Finally Tomasz will be on his customary daytime shift tomorrow. News At One, News Channel between 11:00-15:00 plus Radio 4 after You & Yours.

Big and beefy
Tomasz was on the BBC News Channel overnight, and for a moment it appeared Tomasz had had a face-transplant with David Cameron!
I like the thought of Tomasz's beefy showers, I'll need cold one after that! I do like his sign-off though, referring to the "folks at the News Channel". Perhaps broadcasting from a ranch, listening to Dolly Parton.
It may feel more like March, but there are signs it mid-spring. I went for a nice drive around the environs of Melton Mowbray and Grantham the other day: The scent of oil-seed, the sight of lush grass verges peppered with cow parsley and woodlands replete with bluebells. As I descended Broughton Hill, a verdant patchwork of fields spread before me, as a swallow dumped on my windscreen. Ah vernal bubolic bliss.
Thanks to Terratec for the video, from 10:57pm last night

Fruit Sunday
A quicky from me today (a post that is!). Look out for Tomasz over the weekend around midday on the News Channel and lunchtime BBC One News.
More importantly, Country Tracks
The question is, will Tomasz treat us to taut jeans and a tight shirt? And a masterful forecast of course.

Meanwhile Tomasz did attend that Attitude party, I shall be buying next month's edition.

Return of The Schaf
After a long absence from our airwaves, His Loveliness returned to the News Channel last night. I must confess I was frustrated at Tomasz's absence over the past few weeks; so much so, I was shaking my fist when he appeared on the screen.
He's looking rather tanfastic too, with his fetching pink tie and pięknym uśmiechem at the end. I'm not so keen on the showers, but I like the cool weather... sorry Tomasz
Although if it means Tomasz grunting, it can't be all that bad!

Camptown races
On Friday evening Tomasz was there on the News Channel, to inform us about weather at sundry sporting events-- for instance proclaiming in was hot on the track for the Bahrain F1 grand-prix-- although The Schaf was already hot on my screen.
There was an adorable moment at just after two minutes in, where Tomasz had a muttering about Monmouthshire-- and started 'talking broken biscuits' about race-courses. Since Tomasz is a star, he could laugh off his memory lapse {i}.
Not to worry our Tomasz: If you take away the gambling, where's the fun in watching horses being whipped by the vertically-challenged? There is one good way of leaving a bookmaker with a small fortune-- go in with a large one.
Ta muchly to Terratec, for the clip^
{i} Oh that laugh... even better than Rustie Lee's-- that's saying something.

Tomasz does a sterling job once more
As Tomasz unfortunately predicted, the torrential rain arrived in Cumbria and environs; causing floods of "biblical proportions", with 374mm (over a foot) of rain being dumped in some parts of the county. It is said it was the wettest 24 hours on record in Britain, "a once-in-1000-year occurence".
I'm just grateful that my part of the world received no rain yesterday or today, and my thoughts are with the people affected by hideous weather in Cumbria (and elsewhere).
It's in times like these, that our Tomasz comes into his own, he gave a great interview with Sohpie Raworth during News At One {i}: A comprehensive but straightfoward explanation of the weather systems responsible for these freak conditions-- and what's ahead...
Tomasz did a sterling job today, he gracefully told us the worst with his broadcasts.... sadly more rain to come over the weekend. From 10:57am and 11:33am
Tomasz did provide some much needed levity, bless him. He got Pudsey Bear {ii} to wave at us, at the end of the News At One bulletin. He was also wearing a bright pink tie... Tomasz that is, not Pudsey.
Tomasz also said "catch you later" at the end of one of his bulletins-- that's Jon Mitchell's {iii} catchphrase! What next, Tomasz saying a high-pitched "bye-bye" as a sign-off, as of Emma Jesson? Tomasz has the style to pull such things off though.
Forecasts from News At One and 1:56pm...
A big, big thanks to Terratec365 for all his smart work above with the vids
{i} He did a shorter interview with Simon McCoy earlier on the News Channel too.
{ii} Children In Need tonight-- please donate generously! I'm hoping Tomasz will do something 'special routine' tonight for CIN... we can but hope! I'd spend my wad for Tomasz anyday.
{iii} Speaking of charidee, I heartily recommend buying Jon Mitchell's book "Bright And Breezy" off Amazon-- all proceeds go to Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Notts & Lincs Air Amublance.

Swelling around The Solent
Tomasz did a sterling job keeping us up-to-date about the gales battering the southern half of Britain-- wonderfully informative and straightfoward as ever.
As usual Tomasz cheered us all up by giving us that{i} smile out the left-hand side of his mouth, plus a few nice reassuring/pensive smiles too-- public-service broadcasting at it's finest. Two videos of the Weather God at work today
Ta muchly to Terratec365 for that lovely pair
Tomasz on during Saturday luchtime, with a Country Tracks tomorrow? Yes folks, I feel a 11:47 moment coming on-- BBC1. As they say in Lancashire: "Be thurr, or be squrr"

Tomasz pumps in
I'm pleased to say Tomasz is back after a few days absence, dived in straightaway with a bit of McCoy-baiting today. Simon announced Tomasz's arrival in an oddly silted fashion, which Tomasz cheekily immitated.
However Tomasz's glory was short-lived, since he accidentally referred to northern Scotland as northern England... oops, he'll upset them again! No doubt some precious folk will be already assembling a wicker man in Ullapool, and SNP politicians will be foaming upon hearing this 'transgression' {i}.
Personally I don't mind, since Tomasz said that "rain showers will be pumping in", which disturbingly got me excited-- he even talked about "sprinkles" on News At One. Sophie Raworth hinted that Tomasz may be thinking about his summer holidays, and Tomasz agreed. Never mind, this is the sort of weather warning I like...

Thanks to Terratec365 for the following...
{i} Reminds me of that Frankie Boyle gag: "Least Alex Salmond looks Scottish. He looks as though he has the cholestrol level of a fried egg, and his heart beats twice an hour". So give Frankie a hard time, and leave The Schaf alone.

Tomasz or Indiana Jones
Yes forget Harrison Ford folks, Tomasz makes a far better Indiana Jones. Thanks to a 'provocative' remark by Maxine "Maaxane" Mawhinney yesterday, we got to see how Tomasz would handle a lasso (or perhaps a whip). Just pause for a while, to contemplate the implications of that. Yes.
I hope he doesn't get into trouble for abusing his clicker {i} in such a way, I thought it was most entertaining; it brought a smile to my face, but then again I'm easily pleased. But as Tomasz pointed out he is a "serious weather forecaster" {ii}, and it's the weekend... perhaps explains the glossy grey tie.
There is a five-day weather forecast around lunchtime, around 12:05-12:10 according to my telly guide-- end of the Remembrance Sunday programme-- so I doubt Tomasz will be in his casuals.
{i} ["Michael Winner" voice]: Calm down dears, it's only the remote control to change his weather chart
{ii} Daaarling. But only at the weekends.

Happiness with Tomasz
Sadly no Tomasz for the past couple of days: With all these autumnal showers, grey skies and blustery conditions, there's only man to cheer us up-- although Simon McCoy doesn't think so! This from the News Channel in August 2008...

Ivy league
A nice triple-bill of Tomasz today: His message was that autumn was at "full-throttle", and so was Tomasz's performance-- indeed I was at full-throttle watching him {i}.
At 11:58 he was doing an "autumn watch" piece about the flowering of ivy; even in the wilds of Moray and Aberdeenshire, ivy is flowering at present. No doubt this will be of interest to our Tomasz, since he maintains his own garden-- I wonder if he has ever had a creeper up his trellis?
For News At One, Kate Silverton clearly had amused him-- since he started his forecast with a brief chuckle. We got a nice view of his designer stubble; a couple of days' worth there I'd say, accentuates his lovely pink lips nicely {ii}. Tomasz was commendably enthusiastic about the weather, despite the heavy rain that was plaguing some parts of the country.
Then just before 1pm, the News Channel was left in the "weathery hands" of Tomasz; he did a bewitching groping motion with his hands, as if he was about to tickle somebody {iii}. Tomasz was at his hyper best today. A bonus forecast from 10:58 starts us off..
Thanks once again to Terratec365
["Bruce Forsthye" voice]: Didn't he do well? Ahvivivivuh.
{i} Less said about that, the better.
{ii} Move over Gok Wan ("girlfriend")
{iii} Now there's a thought.

Tomasz blows the Halowe'en cobwebs away
Tomasz was back on with his playmate Simon McCoy today. When Simon handed over to the Weather God, he speculated to Tomasz that it may be windy for Halowe'en.
He replied: "Yeah, I wonder what you'll be wearing"? We can only imagine Tomasz-- perhaps Simon will be a count (...I said a count, missus, a *count*, like Dracula). Gale-force winds are still predicted, that "will blow the Halowe'en cobwebs away", according to Tomasz. Nice to see the stubble again!
Yesterday, Tomasz was let down by technical gremlins. I doubt it's -99 in south Wales! I've heard Merthyr Tydfil called many things, but not an Arctic wasteland!

Caped crusader
Tomasz was on-duty for the late-morning shift at the News Channel, although Hilary Clinton's speech and visit to Pakistan dominated much of the morning's news-- and cancelled most of Tomasz's slots-- thus preventing his bromance with Simon McCoy blossoming further. Who does that Hilary Clinton think she is, eh? {i}
He did one at midday, where he warned of gales for Saturday evening. This Saturday of course is Halowe'en; Tomasz speculated it may be tricky going if you're out and about, and wearing a cape! That's my Lord Fear costume scuppered (he scared me when I was a "kidsy") {iii}
Hmm... I could see Tomasz in a cape-- he does scrub up well in a Star Trek uniform...

Tomasz was also on Radio 4. I notice the style of presenting has changed for R4 forecasts: Tomasz's wonderful prose has now been supplanted by a staccato summary for each region, reads too much like football results: "South-west England 15C and dry, Wales 13C with drizzle. Scotland 16C, dampness round the Trossachs".
Bring back the old-style forecasts Radio 4, we want to hear Tomasz and his mellifluous {ii} monologues. Otherwise it's Tomasz, but not as we know him...

{iii} Mark Knight, we salute you.

Tomasz and his pocket rocket
Hilarious weather forecast just now on News Channel.
Introducing the weather forecast before 11am, Simon called Tomasz a "pocket rocket"! This prompted Tomasz to laugh heartily: "I must think of something to call you next time-- there are a lot things I could call you-- a lot of things". But not on-air presumably, we don't want a Joan Rivers incident.
Simon and Tomasz thinking of pet names for each now... I was being facetious in my last post, but I'm starting to wonder now.

Tomasz is not clock-sure of himself
Fun and games with Tomasz today: He had one his adorable 'clock-ups' today, getting in a bit of tizz about changing the clocks back (see what I've done there!). Least he's unpretentious enough to laugh at himself.
If you remember the useful maxim "spring foward, fall back", then you can be
clock-a-hoop [groan]! An extra hour in bed courtesy of Tomasz... hmmm.. yes
A double-bill video here; 10:56am on the News Channel and then News At One.
Thanks go to Terratec365 for the videos.
We can only hope for a Country Tracks performance this Sunday...

Tomasz's tongue twister
Clearly there was something at the BBC canteen this lunchtime, which caused its broadcasters to become tongue-tied. First Sophie Raworth struggled with our favourite weatherman's name-- then Tomasz had trouble with Bristol and East Anglia. I think Tomasz needs to exercise his tongue...
Still I liked Tomasz's tie today, suits him (sir, ooh-- bright pink sir?!). In a later performance he regained the power of speech, but his graphics let him down! The IT folk at TVC ought to sort it out, can't let The Schaf down like that! He did show concern for a polar bear, which was sweet-- I like to think of him as cuddly teddy bear. Yeah. I like the thumbs-up thing he's starting doing as well of late..
I'm pleased to say his R4 forecast went far smoother today.
Thanks go to Terratec365 for his Youtube mastery

Under the weather
Tomasz came on the News Channel today, very rueful: "It's not one of those forecasts I want to give; one of those days where you look outside, and you don't want to go to work-- I had to unfortunately!".

Aaah... well I say Tomasz always brightens up our days, especially with the becoming stubble he was sporting today! He was a bit chirpier come lunchtime...

Night star
Our Tomasz was on the News Channel overnight, whilst I was getting shut-eye (having sweet dreams that may or may not have involved a certain weatherman!). Thankfully a celestial Youtuber captured two of his overnight forecasts...
Looks as though tomorrow will be a gusty one; first real taste of autumn upon us, with a chilly wind blowing right through to your vitals!
