What's in a name?

An amusing forecast from His Loveliness, as he was introduced via caption as "Presenter Name" on the 13:56 bulletin. The tanfastic Tomasz had to introduce himself in his typically charming manner...



I think yesterday I may have tempted Tomasz into a minor slip-up today, since he confused a certain nation with Wales... ooh they'll be getting the wicker-man out again [haha]. At least we got *the smile* at the end.

Speaking of The Divine One's name, he gets a special mention in Viz this month (out in the shop in the next few days). Of course it would be overly pedantic to point out that Tomasz's surname is Austrian, rather than Polish-- so I won't.



This again raises the question of what Schafnernaker means? Given it's not a standard German-language word, it's Austrian in the sense of Austrian dialect. Schaf(e) is German for sheep, and Schäfer is shepherd-- but what of "naker"? I know "nack" is naked in standard German-- so perhaps 'sheep-nakeder'-- that is sheep-shearer?

I'm worried for Tomasz, he may get Janet Street-Porter on his tail now! The Schaf used the term "spits and spots" today; the usage of which by Dan Corbett, gets JPS all excited. Sadly Craig Charles doesn't share the admiration of the Dan C, given the fomer's unwarranted needling of the latter on Radio 2 this week. I hope Janice Long returns before long (pardon pun).

Anyway, back to His Loveliness with his mixed weather and groping hand motions. But what's this... he mistakenly called Scotland "Wales". Yeah he corrected himself immediately, but he should sacked immediately for his outrageous racism and burnt as a wicker man on the Outer Hebridies. Yes.

Even if our szkcoki friends aren't so keen, I'm pleased to tell Tomasz he doesn't just have admirers from Scotland, Ireland, England, Poland, Ilse of Man and the Channel Islands... visitors come to this blog far and wide. You're well loved in Canada it would seem.



I hear that John Barrowman has mention The Divine One is the Radio Times this week, regarding JB's Saturday show. I get the impression he has made arch comments about our hero, I shall investigate! Nobody denigrates The Schaf on my watch, you don't want to make him angry....

Is it a caterpillar? Is it a snake? No it's Tomasz

The Schaf was on form today, with dramatic emphasis on certain words ("creeping!"). Especially on musing whether a weather front over the south-east of England was a caterpillar or a snake. I'd say the latter, because Tomasz always has an impressive snake down there.

Just so the Scots didn't feel left out, Tomasz pointed out they would suffer showers today-- sure they'll be pleased to here that. He did go half French and half Cockney barrow boy, with his "araht spowse" and bof-shrug/gurn at the end. Obviously the latter rubbed off during his bike across the other side of La Manche



Tomasz wore his lovely blue tie today, matches his eyes wonderfully. Speaking of attire, will Tomasz crop up in his casuals for Country Tracks? I believe it's on the is Sunday, or maybe Dan will return with his three-legged octopodes {i}. We wait patiently as as ever, for Sunday....

Good news, bad news

I've looked at the telly guides for tomorrow, and there is no Country Tracks! F1 and the Politics Show instead
.
Shame really, I have been 'preparing myself' for Tomasz CT performance.

Good news is, there will still be a five-day forecast with Tomasz, in his regular dapper and smart attire. I imagine it will be after the Politics Show, or possibly within it... I remember a couple of five-day forecasts being done in the PS studio.

Further good news is the ever-superb Terratec has managed to get not one, but two, uploaded forecasts for today!


"Here he is" at 10:56. Although (shoot me now) I like those "abysmal" temperatures-- lovely and fresh!


Look the muck in there^. Although Tomasz commendably had sympathy for his friends in Scotland, when he predicted snow for them.

I do like the tie, complements his cudowne oka wonderfully. Meanwhile on Famousmales Forum, a gentleman called Eattom reports: "Tomasz goes to the same gym as me; I see him a lot. His legs are just as fit as the rest of him-- and he seems like a thoroughly nice chap"

Road to Nowheresville

No Tomasz on Country Tracks yesterday, so a forecast from back in the day-- July this year. The Schaf is very smart-caj here (it’s all the rage y’know):

[“Forthcoming rant” alert]

I was surfing an internet forum yesterday, and the topic of conversation was about our Weather God {i}.

There are people *still* giving him grief about the Nowheresville incident {ii}-- it’s been two-and-half years-- that’s a long time for even a Scot to hold a minor grudge against a stranger {iii}.

I’m amazed that people still insist on taking him out of context over that comment. I can understand some SNP {iv} types putting spin on it; the main complaint is that Tomasz’s unfortunate comment reflects an England-centric attitude of the English (Tomasz is Polish, duh) and the alleged parochial nature of the BBC; would the Tomasz be talking about weather in Scotland, if the latter were true?

Tomasz gave an explanation and a sincere apology for the remark {v}; what else do his detractors want, for him to be burnt as a wicker man? I think people still begrudging Tomasz for this incident ought to get some perspective and a sense of humour. I suspect they are just jealous that so many people adore him, and take their 'issues' out on him.

Polemic ends

{i} One of many threads about Tomasz, it has to be said. Generally complimentary… a few non-fans, I suspect it must be very cold where they are.
{ii} Yes I know, an inherent irony in my bringing it up on here!
{iii} Only messing, I have Scottish relatives-- post-modern stereotyping, innit.
{iv} Does such really adavance their cause? Besides I would’ve thought the SNP would have better things to do than picking on Tomasz, such as running Scotland.

Tomasz's bit of rough

Rough weather heading our way over the next 36 hours-- heavy rain and strong 80mph winds coming in from the (south-)west {i}

Of course there's only one person who can gives us the bad news re-assuringly, that's our Tomasz. On News At One, we were treated to a nice sideways close-up shot of Tomasz as he told us the worse; he was sporting a lovely layer of designer stubble and a bright pink tie-- looking absolutely ravishing.

It wasn't all bad news; he took great pains to inform that it was good news for his friends in Scotland, with just light and dry winds breezing across the nation.

Tomasz pumps in

I'm pleased to say Tomasz is back after a few days absence, dived in straightaway with a bit of McCoy-baiting today. Simon announced Tomasz's arrival in an oddly silted fashion, which Tomasz cheekily immitated.

However Tomasz's glory was short-lived, since he accidentally referred to northern Scotland as northern England... oops, he'll upset them again! No doubt some precious folk will be already assembling a wicker man in Ullapool, and SNP politicians will be foaming upon hearing this 'transgression' {i}.

Personally I don't mind, since Tomasz said that "rain showers will be pumping in", which disturbingly got me excited-- he even talked about "sprinkles" on News At One. Sophie Raworth hinted that Tomasz may be thinking about his summer holidays, and Tomasz agreed. Never mind, this is the sort of weather warning I like...

Tomasz's ferocious wind

It would appear Tomasz has taken a much-deserved holiday this week, so a delve into the archives... well a couple of weeks ago anyway!

Tomasz was expressing grave concern about gale-force winds over "Nowheresville", a catherine wheel of air no less. And remember kids, don't stick your head out of a car window at 80mph...
